I am proud to welcome you to the Topcliffe Outdoor Learning Hub website. Topcliffe Primary firmly believes that every child should have access to, engaging and challenging outdoor learning, that motivates children and challenges them to apply their knowledge, curiosity and wonder, whilst fostering independence and self-reliance.

Through the hub, it is our vision that these attributes are effectively promoted to ensure that children can reach their full potential, gain greater appreciation of themselves, others and of the wider world; ensuring that children can grow in confidence and stature. As the ecologist Tim Gill suggests. ‘Humans are disappearing from the outdoors at a rate that would make them top any conservationist’s list of endangered species.

In launching the Topcliffe Outdoor Learning Hub I want to empower those who choose to use the hub to challenge and change this view. Should you choose to visit Topcliffe, our experienced outdoor learning specialist will work with you to individually tailor packages to meet the needs of your setting.

The hub is situated in the grounds of Topcliffe Primary School, that has one of the country’s largest resource bases for children with Autism and Speech and Language needs. Topcliffe is well aware of the positive impact that outdoor education and learning has on all children. Thank you for visiting our website today, one which I hope you find informative and helpful in selecting the right outdoor package for your school. I look forward to welcoming you in the future.

I am very pleased and excited to welcome you to the Topcliffe Outdoor Learning Hub website. Through my extensive knowledge and experience, I have seen first-hand the opportunities that outdoor learning presents in the promotion of emotional wellbeing of all our young people. I have always shared and believed in my passion for outdoor learning and have over 20 years of experience in supporting and developing young people through outdoor learning.

From my first role in 1996, as an assistant instructor with the Birmingham Behaviour support service, where I worked with children with a range of emotional and behavioural needs, I dedicated my life to learning outside the classroom. In 2009, I became deputy principle for the Birmingham Outdoor Education Centre and Head of Centre at the Stables in Bromsgrove.

Through my role with the Outdoor learning service I have had the honour of working with a large and diverse selection of schools across the city. Working with thousands of children from different cultures, and with different needs and abilities. By working with Topcliffe Outdoor Learning Hub, I will be able to share with your group my experience, passion and love for the outdoors environment. Please have look through our website to see the fantastic, bespoke outdoor activity programmes we can offer. I am looking forward to meeting yourself and working with your pupils very soon.
