PE and Sport
PE Purpose of Study and Intent
Our Topcliffe PE or physical education curriculum is designed to inspire all pupils to succeed and lead healthy active lives as well as to encourage all pupils to enjoy a variety of sports and physical activities.
For some of our children this will be in competitive sport and for others in different types of activities. Our Topcliffe PE and Outdoor Education Curriculum provides a range of opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness and also provides them with opportunities that they may not have had in their everyday life. We plan in a range of opportunities for children to compete in sport and other activities against children in our own setting and those within our local area and WHMAT in order to build character, resilience and encourage healthy choices as well as to embed values such as fairness and respect. Where possible we make use of experts from within the community and capitalise on opportunities offered by professional sports organisations such as Warwickshire Cricket Club and England Netball.
Our PE lessons are delivered by Sports Coaches through Central Coaching and the children also have timetabled sessions as part of their PE provision with our Outdoor Education Instructor Mr Cutts. We ensure participation in the wider local community through our involvement in Kingsbury Schools Sports Partnership Competitions, Eastwards consortium sports competitions, Titan Sports events and Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust intra schools competitions.
