Ikon Gallery Art Project
This half term, Topcliffe have had some visits from a ceramics artist Joanne Masding who has worked over the last couple of weeks with children in Oaks, Pines and Willows classes. This is part of a Creative Connections Art project we have been taking part in and the children have been learning all about journeys linked with an exhibition that was displayed at the Ikon gallery earlier this year.
This work is part of a showcase celebrating artworks made by pupils from thirteen Birmingham primary schools during Spring/Summer 2023, as part of Creative Connections, the regional schools’ consortia. The pupils worked with Birmingham-based visual artists in their classrooms to create pieces responding to the theme ‘journeys’.
The children at Topcliffe created some ceramics artwork of their own which will now be displayed in a real live exhibition at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham City Centre which is amazing. If you would like to visit the opening information is below:
You can see a 3D Space Showcase tour here: Schools Showcase: Creative Connections - Exhibition - Ikon (ikon-gallery.org) or visit the exhibition itself.
