World Down Syndrome Day

We celebrated World Syndrome Day on Thursday, by wearing colourful, crazy and odd socks to acknowledge and celebrate the lives and achievements of people with Down Syndrome. This day helps to combat stereotypes and misconceptions about Down Syndrome and educate people about the condition.
Did you know that babies born with Down Syndrome have an extra copy of the 21st chromosome?
Chromosomes hold our genetic information, and children with Down syndrome are born with three copies of the 21st chromosome.
The theme this year is 'End the Stereotypes'. This is a focus on the right of those living with Down syndrome to live without judgement.
